Please see below the Aberdeen City Council Attendance Guidelines:
As you will know, there is a legal requirement for parents/carers to ensure that their children attend school regularly. If a child is absent the school should be informed of the reason by telephone, letter or email as soon as possible.
It is appreciated that children may have to attend appointments during school hours. Please advise the school of any appointment, in writing or by telling the school office, at the earliest possible date along with the name of a responsible adult who will collect the child from school. For safety reasons, no child will be allowed to leave the school premises on his/her own during school hours.
To ensure, as far as possible, the safety of every pupil at Ferryhill School, parents/carers are requested to notify the school of their child’s absence by 9:30 am on the first day of absence. (Please be aware the school office is not manned until 8:30am)
This may be done by:
- a phone call to school (tel 01224 586755)
- signed note handed in by parent/carer or sibling
- oral message to the school office by parent/carer
- e-mail: Ferryhill@aberdeencity.gov.uk
If no communication has been received by the school, every effort will be made to contact parents/carers. Should your child’s absence extend beyond the length of time initially intimated, parents/carers must re-contact school as above.
If for any reason, your child is unable to return to school after lunchtime, it is imperative that parents/carers contact school before the afternoon session commences
