Homework guidance

Following a very successful experiment with some of the classes in the 2016/17 school year, the school has recently rolled out a new approach to homework.

Homework will continue to focus on literacy and numeracy as core learning areas but now also includes practical tasks aimed to help children grow and achieve across the four core areas of the Curriculum for Excellence:

  • Confident individuals
  • Effective contributors
  • Responsible citizens
  • Successful learners

technologyThe new approach for homework encourages children to think beyond the classroom environment and start developing the skills and attributes needed to thrive now and in the future.

Homework assignments are purposeful, geared to the level of ability of the child and for the benefit of the child. It should, on average, take no longer than thirty minutes to complete.

For any queries on the nature of homework assignments or any suggestions for additional tasks or areas of development, please contact the school.
